Prayers of the People September 25, 2022

The Reverend Dr. Katie Snipes Lancaster God of all that is imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete: Be with us in all that is unfinished, flawed, and fleeting about the lives we bear up to you. Be with us when we feel undone, when our efforts feel fragmentary, and our efforts falter. Give us humility, unencumbered. Give us an essential endurance through the struggles of this moment. Hold us. Hear us. Mend us. Revive us. For [...]

Prayers of the People September 18, 2022

The Reverend Dr. Katie Snipes Lancaster Spirit of the living God, mighty God, prince of peace, we long for you. We gather here under the safe canopy of this Sanctuary to seek your presence and know the peace of your spirit. Be with us now as we pray. Hold our hopes and dreams, our worries and fears, and receive us just as we are. Do not let our faith be milquetoast and timid, but instead wrap us up in [...]

By night, govern our dreams, hold our worries, give peace to our unrest, entrust us to your safe keeping, and permit the gift of sleep to guide us. As we sense the turning of the year, smudges of yellow and orange emerging on the tips [...]

Your ineffability unfolding at family gatherings, meals shared, laughter rising to the rafters. Your wisdom interlaced in every conversation, every decision, every creative endeavor, when our own spirit is open to you. Be alive within us. Give us joy. Open our eyes to see the simple relationship between spirit and flesh, [...]

The Prayers of the People August 28, 2022

The Reverend Dr. Katie Snipes Lancaster Holy one, Architect of Daybreak, who awakens us from the “mansions of the stars” (Diane Ackerman, from poem “School Prayer”), the celestial melody of rest still ringing in our ears; give us daybreak; give us early light; give us delight at the simplicity of breath in our lungs and heartbeat in our ribcage; give us another day in which our praise is heard and received. Lift [...]

A Wilderness Blessing

Squire Prince Wilderness Blessing God of all creation, light, and life. Lord in the wilderness you met us. In the lack of physical strength your spirit strengthened us. In places of uncertainty you encouraged us. In the space of fear you were the true author of our faith. We thank you Lord, that you continue to be these things to us, and so much more. We thank you for these wilderness adventurers and [...]
