Friday, December 18—A 2020 Winter Devotional

“When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then it was said among the nations, ‘The Lord has done great things for them.’” Psalm 126:1–2

“Was there a moment, known only to God, when all the stars held their breath, when the galaxies paused in their dance for a fraction of a second, and the Word, who had called it all into being, went with all love into the womb of a young girl, and the universe started to breathe again, and the ancient harmonies resumed their song, and the angels clapped their hands for joy?” Madeline L’Engle

God instill within us your dream: a dream of laughter and shouts of joy. Bring us toward that day when all are united in such ancient harmonies that bring forth dancing. Amen.
