The Judy and Bill Davis Choral Endowment Fund

Written by: Julia Smolucha

Bill created the endowment fund that will fund the operating expenses for three choral section leaders in perpetuity.

The Judy and Bill Davis Choral Endowment Fund was established in December 2019 in honor of the late Judy Davis, who loved Kenilworth Union Church and the music that filled it.

Judy and Bill searched throughout their 44-year marriage for a church experience that could replicate the one from their youths, in which church was not just a Sunday morning obligation but a 7-day-a-week center for community and faith. They finally found what they were looking for in Kenilworth Union in 2016.

Judy especially connected with the music in each worship service. But sadly, soon after coming to Kenilworth Union, Judy was diagnosed with cancer, and after a valiantly fought battle, she passed away in July 2019.

Looking for a way to sustain Judy’s memory in the church, as well as to support the church that had been so supportive of Judy and him during her illness, Bill created the endowment fund that will fund the operating expenses for three choral section leaders in perpetuity.

Now, Bill is encouraging the rest of the congregation to come forward to fund the remaining three section leaders by the end of 2020. No gift is too small to support the music ministry, or to honor Judy’s memory.

As Bill said, “Judy was one of the most wonderful, caring people I’ve ever known. She was compassionate and everyone’s friend.”

Through the endowment, Bill is hoping for all to both become familiar with his wife’s vibrant spirit, and to consider their own support of the church that provides so much to everyone, regardless of their circumstances.
