The Reverend Christine V. Hides

Adapted from Pamela Hawkins and PCUSA Eucharistic Prayers for Lent, year A.

It is truly right and our greatest joy to give you thanks and praise, O Lord our God,
Creator of the universe
Who made light to warm and brighten the earth,
Sky and sea for us to seek and search,
And who created a multitude of creatures and people
That we might join in their chorus of praise to you.

You are holy, Eternal God, and blessed is Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord
Who is the light of the world, who drives out evil, and uncovers what is hidden.
It is Christ who has the grace to forgive and the power to heal and liberate,
So we lift our petitions for the people and places in this world in need of an extra portion of your mercy:
Bring peace to Ukraine and other corners of the world facing war,
Bring aid to the people of Turkey and Syria, and protection for schoolgirls in Iran.
Guide leaders to make laws and regulations that are just and lead to the flourishing of all people.

Gracious God, When we worry about what the future holds, reveal the way forward,
When we mourn those who now rest in eternal life, like our friend Paula,
Help us to know the comfort of your grace.
When we are in need of healing or reconciliation,
Separated from one another and from you, Lord,
Bring us into your light.

Draw near to us in every season of our lives
Touch us, change us, transform our imperfections,
Forgive our wrongdoings,
Offer us a taste of abundant life.

Remembering your gracious acts in Jesus Christ, we take from your creation this bread and this wine and joyfully celebrate his dying and rising, as we await the day of his coming. With thanksgiving, we offer our very selves to you to be a living and holy sacrifice, dedicated to your service. Help us to live as children of light, always seeking what is good and right and pleasing to you.

Through Christ, with Christ, in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor are yours, almighty God, now and forever, and so we pray as Jesus teaches: Our father….
