The Reverend Christine V. Hides

It is right and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, O God of every place, who dwells in barren wilderness and along the roaring rivers. We give you thanks for the great family, our faith ancestors who you called to a new place, guided by the stars and grounded in your promise. Again and again you surprise us with new life that fills every corner of the earth. Each of us walks our own unpredictable path full of both wonder and challenge. Yet you walk with us. You gather us here today in your presence to feast with fellow travelers around the table of your love.

Knowing that you are the author of hope and joy, who cares for us just as you care for the orange daylilies adorning the roadsides and the birds singing their summer song from the trees, we bring to you the cares and concerns we carry with us today.

For the health and flourishing of all your people, Lord hear our prayers;
For those punished by poverty, weave a safety net of care;
For those in harm’s way, be a strength and shield;
For those who face tender endings, bring the gentle promise of your eternal love;
For the who cry out for justice, create possibility for change;
For those who find themselves frontlines of disaster and conflict, bring peace which passes understanding;
For the repair of this scarred planet raise up researchers, healers, and teachers.

Holy are you O God and blessed is your son Jesus Christ. Thank you for his life among us, the embodiment of divine love who was put to an unjust death. Thank you for this holy mystery of the risen Christ, for the redemption of the world, and his reign which will never end.

By your spirit, nourish us at this table of abundant love, preserve and multiply our faith, grant us strength and courageous hearts to be your servants in this beautiful, struggling world, as we join our voices with all those who follow Jesus Christ, praying as he teaches us:

Our Father…. Amen.
