September 30—Gratitude Daily Devotional

I am grateful for gardening and flowers! My father was a gardener as was my older sister, and I still feel a connection to both of them and to God’s world especially this summer as I cultivate and rejuvenate my garden. In fact, I have many plants that my sister gave me over 40 years ago—irises, jack-in-the-pulpits, evening primroses thriving after many transplants! And, both my son and daughter are their family gardeners, so I feel a real connection to family as I plant, weed, and deadhead in pursuit of even more glorious flowers!

Let Us Pray:

Dear God,
Thank you for gardens,
connections to loved ones,
and the peace and solace they
bring in these very troubling times.

I pray that more people everywhere
would be able to experience this same
comfort abiding in gardens.
Thanks be to God, Amen.

Perhaps you can list 2–3 things, people, or aspects
of your life for which you are thankful today.
