As the sun beamed down on me as I woke this morning, I am reminded of a sunbeam shining down on me as an eight-year-old sitting in a church pew. I felt special, like I was being summoned to be the best I could be for others and in service. For every opportunity presented to me in my life, I have seen it as a purpose and a gift to be cherished, whether good or bad. I have listened and followed. I have taught the same to my children.

1 Corinthians 12: 4–7 “Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good, whether through family or work.”

Let Us Pray:

Dear God,
thank you for giving me joy and purpose each day,
despite the challenges and unrest I may occasionally bear.
I am grateful. Amen.

Perhaps you can list 2–3 things, people, or aspects
of your life for which you are thankful today.
