Minute for Outreach by Mary MacGregor, Outreach Committee Member at Kenilworth Union Church on January 9, 2022.
After a two-year hiatus from holding an in-person Outreach benefit, Kenilworth Union Church members will again join together in fellowship to raise money for the Outreach Fund. The benefit will be held on Friday, April 29 at Michigan Shores Club in Wilmette.
Julie Danilek has graciously agreed to co-chair the event and we are looking for another person to co-chair the event with her (with support from church staff). We also need a few other members of the congregation to serve on the Benefit Committee. If you are interested in helping with this important mission, please contact Julie Danilek or the Outreach co-chairs, Chris Cole or Mike Revord.
I’m sure many of you may be questioning why we are talking about holding a benefit while still confronting the coronavirus. We decided to do this because the positive impact of fellowship engendered by a live benefit for this deserving cause was an important consideration for us. We discussed at length the pros and cons of holding a live benefit, and while currently the future outlook for the COVID situation is still uncertain, we are hopeful that this recent surge will diminish and we will be in a much better situation in late April, allowing us to gather together for this very important cause.
Of course we will reassess the situation as we approach our benefit date and all safety protocols recommended by local and federal authorities will be followed. We anticipate that all attendees will be required to be fully vaccinated.
For those of you who are unable or choose not to attend, or if the situation warrants cancelling the benefit, we hope you will consider contributing generously to the Outreach Fund. Your donations matter greatly to the individuals and families served by the agencies we support.
