The persistent trauma of living as though the virus could catch us at any time (which is true) only adds a layer of anxiety under our daily routine. Rather than give in to the basic animal instinct of fight, flight or freeze, we can change our physiology with simple breathing, allowing a more coherent thought process.

Step one: breath in to the count of four while saying, “The Lord is my shepherd.”
Step two: hold this breath, briefly.
Step three: exhale to the count of five while saying, “I shall not want.”

You will not have changed the circumstances of your life, but you have changed your capacity to engage or not.

Peace, my friends.

The Lord is my shepherd,
I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures,
He restoreth my soul.
