“The dream of God is a social and political vision of a world of justice and peace in which human beings do not hurt or destroy, oppress or exploit one another.” Marcus Borg

In the sanctuary of Kenilworth Union Church, two rose windows, one representing peace and the other justice, face one another. The 100th anniversary book reveals that the placement was intentional: “These complementary images symbolize the concept that there must be justice to have peace.”

On this Veteran’s Day, we give thanks for those who have served so that we might know peace among nations. We pray for the time when wars will cease and all will know justice, saying “Thy kingdom come, they will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
