Service Opportunity Details: There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available at Holy Family’s resale store called “Lucille”. Volunteer roles include: backroom help to prepare merchandise for sale; salespeople and cashiers; online sales; photographer/copywriter for Craigslist and online sales; online researchers for pricing; community relations assistant; estate sale visits; picking up on-the-spot donations.

Frequency Details: The frequency would depend upon the volunteer role and the availability of the individual.

Service Opportunity Details: Volunteer at YWCA’s Resale Shop for Good.

Location: Wilmette

Volunteer Ages: Young adults, Adults, Groups

Frequency: On-going

Frequency Details: Requires a commitment of a weekly two hour shift.

Service Opportunity Details: Resale Store Volunteer – Cashier: The cashier is welcoming and greeting customers, answering basic questions about the stores and the program, and ensuring that customers have a pleasant shopping and sales transaction experience with us. Training for the cash register will be provided. Retailer: Retailers usually begin as Donation Sorters and have learned the way the backroom works. They then take particular interest in a specific area of the store (usually clothing, housewares, or accessories). They learn more about tagging, pricing, displaying, and recovery in that section. Usually working on a day when the store is especially busy, the Retailer will work in their particular area of the store to replenish merchandise when it is getting low, return unpurchased items to the correct place, and assist customers in that area by giving recommendations and other assistance.

Frequency: On-going

Frequency Details: Most volunteers come once a week for 4 hours at a time. All volunteering schedules are made in advance, and schedule openings vary by location.

Other Information: A volunteer orientation and training is providedto equip volunteers with the information they need. Because of this, the agency asks for a commitment of at least 40 hours. (i.e. once a week for four (4) hours at a time for 10 weeks.)
