Bill requests support for the 2021 Outreach Benefit Fund, which assists 40 Chicagoland agencies serving communities in need. Learn more or make a donation.
Hi friends, my name is Bill Evertsberg and I’m one of the ministers at Kenilworth Union Church. Last week I told you that I was finished with these weekly conversations on camera, but I guess I lied. I find that I need to speak to you at least one more time and make an appeal to your inspiring generosity.
I don’t know if you can remember this far back, but in April of 2019, we were right here at the Michigan Shores Club for our annual Outreach Benefit. You were very generous in bidding on auction items and raising the paddles and buying wine and all of that.
In April of 2020, we were unable to be here because of the coronavirus, and to our other surprise, here in April of 2021, we’re still unable to gather in person.
So our annual Outreach Benefit has turned into an annual Outreach Appeal. All that will happen is that you already have or will receive a letter. We hope that you’ll respond to that very generously.
In April of 2020, by the magic of Peter and Alice Schaff, we were able to raise $200,000 for Outreach even without a benefit, and we hope for the same result this year. As you know, Kenilworth Union supports 40 Outreach agencies mostly in Chicagoland, serving our most deserving neighbors. They provide our most essential services like education, and shelter, and food, and education and counseling, so we know you’ll respond generously because they’re in greater need than ever before because of the quarantine, because of the virus.
And so next year, April 2022, God willing, we’ll be able to be back here in person for an Outreach benefit to share fun, fashion, feast, festivities, frolic, fabulousness, and fundraising. Until then, please respond generously in 2021 to the Outreach appeal, and once again I’ll find myself saying thanks, and thanks, and ever thanks.
