Don’t be wishing you were someplace else with someone else. Where you are right now is God’s place for you. 1 Cor 7:17 (MSG)
This is the first scripture I read to our IMPACT teens at last Sunday’s fall kick off, where over 70 high school youth attended. This verse bears repeating—and even memorizing. The burden of thinking we ought to be someplace else, with someone else or like someone else is too often the one that takes the spark from our souls and makes us ever so weak and weary and sad.
Our place is with God and God’s is with us. This almost unbearably beautiful truth is hard for us to grasp—or even to see, but it is the saving truth our youth need to hear and remember and pay attention to in the thick of a world that demands so much.
We are blessed that the youth are joining us at church to seek the God who is always seeking them and loving them. We are also blessed to have had Claire Revord join the staff as full-time Associate Youth Director in July. Her presence brings more light and life into each of our ministries and to the church as a whole.
Note to Parents—you have an open invitation to coffee with me at Friday Parent Coffee—starting tomorrow, Sept 27. Find me at Peet’s coffee at 8:30 a.m. Parent coffee is for parents of teens and young adults. We meet every second Friday of the month at Reprise in Hubbard Woods and every fourth Friday at Peet’s Coffee. Drop in any time!

We are also in the process of launching a new and more active Youth Ministry Committee. If you want more information about that, contact Leslie Holling.
