The Reverend Dr. Katie Snipes Lancaster

Our tenth annual Quiet Christmas Worship service momentarily mutes the tinny timber of “holiday cheer,” and makes way for your compassionate and gentle self to be made known in the sacred presence of the divine.

You need this place of quiet. I need this place of quiet. You know someone else in your life—a friend, neighbor, colleague, or dear family member—who needs an invitation to the quiet parts of Christmas too. We welcome you to the sanctuary, where the deep blues of the stained glass window at night carry an ancient echo of God’s peace that passes understanding. Or we welcome you virtually to join us online from the comfort of a cozy place where the texture of home becomes holy.

Home and sanctuary, equally sacred places to light a candle, sing a song, and listen for God-with-us to dwell. May the pinpricks of light that come from the ancient practice of prayerful candle lighting forge an entryway into the “peace that passes all understanding” that Christ calls us toward.
