By The Reverend Dr. Katie Snipes Lancaster

Erasmus is credited with saying “When I get a little money I buy books; and if any is left, I buy food and clothes.” He was an academic through and through and was influential thinker in the years leading up to the Protestant Revolution. His search for truth was constant but his trust in Christ as Truth was enduring. It seems like there is an equally important search for truth going on culturally in our world right now, and we, too, would find comfort and hope placing our deepest trust in Christ as Truth.

Let us pray:

O Lord Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth, and the Life:
Do not let us stray from you, the Way,
nor to distrust you, the Truth,
nor to rest in anything other than you, the Life.
—Desiderius Erasmus, c. 1466–1536
