Homegrown Prayer—Day 16: June 16

Written by: Julia Smolucha

By The Reverend Dr. Katie Snipes Lancaster

John Douglas Hall calls the Lord’s Prayer a “Matterhorn.” The prayer Jesus teaches us is like a mighty mountain, famous and towering, known yet difficult to summit, a well-trod borderland connecting human and divine.

Does the Lord’s Prayer loom large in your faith life? Does it fade into the background, going unnoticed by you for weeks, despite its ubiquity? Have you taken time to slowly climb it, step by step exploring what it has to offer?

Let us pray:

Make me
according to
Thy will.
—Brother Lawrence, 1611–1691

Tomorrow, we continue a 9 week study on the Lord’s prayer: online Wednesdays at 9 a.m. We hope you will join us.
