Are you in a quandary about what to do with all the bags of donations you saved for Rummage, now that Kenilworth Union Church’s 2020 Rummage Sale has been canceled? Fear no more.
If you have furniture and household items to donate, Winnetka Congregational Church is offering a special contactless quarantine donation program to help the Chicago Furniture Bank and Humble Design. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, you can take your items to the Winnetka Congregational Church at 725 Pine Street, Winnetka, IL. Put furniture donations in the PODS container and household goods in the U-Box provided.
What will they take?
· The Chicago Furniture Bank is collecting all furniture EXCEPT large sectional sofas, china cabinets, armoires, entertainment centers, outdoor furniture, large bookshelves and wooden bed frames.
· And Humble Design needs folding tables, lightweight storage options for dressers, microwaves, pots & pans, crockpots, toasters, coffee makers, sheets, towels, trash cans, DVD players, DVDs, chairs, rugs, toys and home décor, as well as moving boxes, garbage bags, bubble wrap, cleaning supplies, masks, and gloves. Your donations will help people who are transitioning from homelessness. Humble Design is one of Kenilworth Union Church’s Outreach agencies.
The charities will be emptying the containers at least weekly, so if they’re full when you try to donate, please try again in a few days.
