Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont
Join us for a Valentine’s celebration of a delightful film. It is the story of a sweet friendship that develops between Mrs. Palfrey (Joan Plowright) and Ludovic Meyer (Rupert Friend). After the death of her husband, Mrs Palfrey moves to London with the hope of gaining her independence and seeing her grandson. While she is staying at a residential hotel for senior citizens, she meets Ludovic when she falls on the street in front of his flat. An unlikely friendship flourishes, bolstered by the fact that the residents are under the impression that Ludovic is Mrs. Palfrey’s grandson.
This is a beautiful quiet film that definitely tugs at the heartstrings. It is a very moving tale of two lonely people who find joy in sharing experiences and conversation. This film gives one a sense of hope for humanity.
