Ashes remind us of our humanness, and of God’s promises to be with us in tangible incarnational ways. When we wear the sign of the cross in ashes on our forehead, we get in touch with our own mortality, a radical reminder of how precious every day, every moment is. Ash Wednesday has the potent potential to reorient our lives toward what matters, shedding falseness, judgment, and closed-off postures of fear while opening up to renewal and an abundance of life.

We will offer a very very brief service of ashes at 10:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. and a fuller service with music and sermon at 7:30 p.m. The 4:15 p.m. service in particular is geared to welcome children, teens, and adults of all ages for an after-school opportunity to engage in this ancient spiritual practice that begins the season of Lent.
