Week 10: Recovering a Sense of Self-Protection*
December 12
Early this morning the last full moon of 2019 appeared on auspiciously 12-12 at 12:12 EST. Called a “cold moon” for the season of the year, the number 12 also signifies harmony and completion…the year is nearing completion. We too are nearing completion of The Artist’s Way.
In the final leg of this journey, for some participants the sensation of fear hovers with it arising from a wide variety of reason, not all of them understood. Maybe it is anxiety or anger or curiosity. No matter what word describes the sensation, the feeling is visceral.
We can think of the shepherds in the fields and all the characters in the Gospel of Luke whose lives were changed with the birth of Jesus—all of them expressed fear. They were told “do not be afraid.” Fear often precedes the arrival of an unexpected joy. Darkness is always the place where we glimpse grace.
We have two more weeks of work: Recovering a Sense of Autonomy begins now. At our final meeting of 2019, we will turn towards the final chapter, Recovering a Sense of Faith and conclude quite appropriately on Christmas Day.
Enthusiasm for each other prompted the desire to meet again. With this we will meet on Wednesday, January 8 at 2 p.m.
Be well, artists and pilgrims. We have companions on this journey.
*We took two weeks finish week nine, this is week 10 of the program.
