Facility Update, Peter Schaff, President, Board of Trustees
We continue to make progress on a plan to update Kenilworth Union Church’s facilities, with particular focus on the Warwick Building, and we look forward to hosting another round of town hall meetings with the congregation during the first quarter of 2023.
As you know, we are actively exploring options for the Warwick Building and have filed an application for a demolition permit with the Village of Kenilworth. That application will allow us to understand any demolition-related concerns that the village may have. The village requires that we post a sign notifying the public of our application until after the village’s hearing on this matter on November 15. Please be assured that the filing of this permit application does not mean that we have made a final decision regarding the Warwick Building nor that we are near the start of construction. More discussions with the Executive Committee, the Board of Trustees, the congregation, our neighbors, and the village will occur before any decisions and plans are finalized. We do not expect construction to start until mid-2023 at the earliest.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to reach out to Ann Carey, Jerry James, Meg Revord, and/or Peter Schaff.
