From the Facility Project Team: Meg, Ann, Jerry, and Peter
Construction work has commenced on our long-planned facility improvements! This important milestone required years of hard work and planning by our senior staff, members of our congregation, and a capable team of outside advisors. Special thanks are due to Ann Carey, John Sharp, our architects at HKS, and our construction team at CoreBuilt for their relentless effort on behalf of our church.
Going forward with construction underway, we will provide brief biweekly eNews updates regarding the work currently underway as well as the work planned for the upcoming weeks.
This Week
Mobilization and site prep have been the focus this week. Work has included tree protection, fencing installation, and the start of demolition of the Manse. Please remember that access to the church from Warwick Road is now closed. Weekday entry to the church is limited to the main Kenilworth Avenue entry (where Julie Smolucha sits adjacent to the Library). On Sundays the Kenilworth Avenue entrance to the Narthex/Sanctuary will be open as well.
Looking Ahead
Over the next 2–3 weeks CoreBuilt will complete the demolition of the Manse. Excavation of the basement of the new wing will commence thereafter, along with some site utility work.
Capital Campaign Reminder
We are grateful beyond words to those Kenilworth Union members who have already given to the Capital Campaign. And if you have yet to give, we hope you will consider doing so. We are working hard to wrap up the Campaign this year. Campaign gifts can be made at kuc.org/give/ or by contacting John Sharp in the church office.
We welcome any questions you may have regarding the construction schedule, the overall facility improvement plan, or the progress of the Capital Campaign.
