Kathy McCabe Retires
Please join us in extending our best wishes to Kathy McCabe, who after 24 years of faithful service to Kenilworth Union Church, is retiring on May 1. In her role as administrative assistant, Kathy has been an integral part of nearly every wedding, funeral, and baptism at the church over the last two decades.
She is an irreplaceable support to all staff and members, never hesitating to offer extra help when needed. Her gentle voice over the phone or in person has been welcome comfort; her kindness and hospitality in all things has been inexhaustible. Even just in the last year, Kathy was a persistent and steady staff member as we all navigated the unknowns of the pandemic together, and then in the midst of Jo Forrest’s transition to a new church and Katie Lancaster’s time away on sabbatical, Kathy kept the vital ship of congregational care afloat.
Anyone who knows Kathy will recognize those traits of steadiness and gentle care as consistent with her work all along, since 1997. We treasure her. We celebrate her. We recognize the ways in which she has been a gift, a literal God-send. —The Reverend Dr. Katie Snipes Lancaster
Kathy will be honored at 9:30 Online Worship on Sunday, April 18. To congratulate Kathy on her retirement and thank her for her service, please send letters to the church (attn: Sandy Wells) by Saturday, April 10. We will compile and gift these letters to her upon her departure. We send our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Kathy and wish the best for her and her husband Michael as they enjoy her retirement together.
