Things We Do On Sundays: Rest

By The Reverend Christine V. Hides

What a joy to see so many of you sharing pictures of your family enjoying the outdoors this summer! Two weeks ago my family spent time hiking and relaxing in the Rockies. The change of scenery was blissful after months of sheltering at home. The change of pace offered time to read, to talk, to sit on the porch, and stare at the sky. In nature and rest, God restored my soul.

This Sunday’s Family Chapel will focus on the seven day creation story and sabbath rest. Rest is our last topic in the series of “Things We Do on Sundays.” Join us as we explore the wonders of this creation story and the importance of time away from work. (creation cards)

If you want to dive deeper into the study of rest I recommend The Nap Ministry on Instagram and Sabbath as Resistance: Saying No to the Culture of Now by Walter Brueggemann.
