Friends, this is a table, not of the church, but of the Lord. It is for those who love him and want to love him more. So come, you who are here often, or you who have not been here for a long time. You who have tried to follow him, and you who have failed. For it is the Lord who invites us here, it is his will that we meet him at this table.

Blessed be the name of our Lord Jesus whom you sent to deliver us, great God, from the bondage of death, slavery to sin. In humility he ascends from your heights to kneel in obedience to loves command.

The one who is boundless takes on the bondage of our sin.
The one who is free takes our place in death’s prison.
In the deserts of our wandering, he sustains us, giving us his body for manna for our weariness. A cup of suffering which he drank becomes for us a cup of salvation.

God remember those who are sick, those who suffer pain, or loneliness, or grief. Those who draw near to death, and those who we name in our hearts before you. Comfort them in your presence, Sustain them with your promises. Grant them your peace, hear our silent prayers.

Through Christ, all glory and honor are yours, almighty father, with the Holy Spirit, and the holy church, now and forever. Now hear us as we pray together the ancient prayer, Our Father…. Amen.
