‘Tis the gift to be loving, ‘tis the best gift of all,
Like a quiet rain that blesses where it falls,
And with it we will truly believe
‘tis better to give than it is to receive.
By The Reverend Dr. Jo Forrest
In the season of Eastertide, we learn the truth of Jesus’ life and how to live according to his command: to love one another. The simplest acts of caring for the welfare of others brings us closer to God and into our best lives.
Since the building closed, the people of Kenilworth Union Church became a force for good in caring for one another. Phone calls. Notes penned by hand. Tender care for those who are ill. Tasty covered dishes. Prayers. Lots of prayers.
These simple gifts of Christian life remain the lifeblood of our faith and our way forward.
In the spirit of Christian giving, here are a few offers and requests for you:
Stephen Ministers continue to offer companionship in life’s dark valleys. Contact me or a Stephen Leader to receive this confidential gift. We are good at telecare.
KUC Cares began by youth for youth to care for the unique joys and anxieties of young people. Cards, texts, Homer’s milkshakes. This rock-star ministry welcomes anyone who would like to lend a hand in reaching out to youth and young adults.
Care Guild continues to provide comfort food and much more with a spiritual community at your table. If the idea of another meal or new recipe exhausts you, or a trip to the store remains too risky, we’d gladly deliver. If you are brimming with baking, we can connect to those who would delight in your treats.
Mid-day Prayer continue via livestream to pray for this congregation, our Outreach agencies, and the concerns of our community. Send us your requests and join your voice with others on Tuesday at 12:15 p.m. as we worship God with gratitude and humility.
Care Connections simply connects members of the congregation through phone calls, notes and emails. If you’d like to create a new connection, contact me. Think of this as an old-fashioned pen pal.
During Sunday worship, we will lift our voices and sing of Simple Gifts, gifts to give and receive.
See you on Sunday.
