Scripture: Psalm 106:1
Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for God is good; God’s love endures forever.

Spiritual Practice: Gratitude
This is no foreign spiritual practice. You’ve done it, year after year. There’s nothing I can teach you about gratitude. I can only remind you to practice it. For, some days we forget, our minds get burdened with the worries and frustrations of daily life, and gratitude gets pushed aside. Gratitude is an orientation to life, a full body inclination to recognizing the gift of this day, the gift of this moment, the treasure of food, family, familiar rhythms, surprise, delight, the small stuff even when hardship draws round. Gratitude helps us to see the gift even within days of struggle. The spiritual practice of gratitude puts God at the center of our thanksgiving.

Daily Prayer
God, hear our thanksgiving.
For this hot cup of coffee,
For this small wedge of toast,
For this tender conversation,
For this near-invisible connection,
For the rhythm of this day unfolding,
For this moment and the next.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Amen.
