How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
Spiritual Practice: Lectio Divina (Holy Reading)
Lectio divina or holy reading of scripture takes the pressure of you as an individual to “know” something, and allows you to just enter in. Lectio divina is a low pressure, intuitive, spiritual way of reading the bible that doesn’t focus on what you know, but instead invites you to listen, receive and integrate the experience of reading the bible into your life. It puts God at the center of the practice of reading scripture, and allows you to be present, welcoming the divine in your midst.
Here are three articles and a book if you want to explore how different Christian traditions make lectio divina a communal and individual prayer practice.

Daily Prayer
God of deep reading,
God of embodied encounter,
We admit that we will never know enough
to hear the fullness of your expression in scripture.
But we trust you.
We trust that you are present in our reading of the Bible.
We trust that you work in us and through us.
We trust that you open our ears, our hearts, our minds.
So let us submit ourselves to you today in trust.
Be with us.
Open us.
Speak through us.
Amen.
