Ed James receives the Visionary Award from the Geneva Foundation of Presbyterian Homes
Kenilworth Union Church has many blessings to celebrate. Please join us as we observe all of these great happenings this week:
- September 17 is Family Festival Sunday, which marks the beginning of a new year of programing and Sunday School. Worship is at 8:30 and 10 a.m. in the Sanctuary, and Sunday School check-in is at 9:45 a.m. Family Festival, held immediately after 10 a.m. worship, will be on the front lawn with kid-themed fellowship and treats for everyone. - New Member Information Class is also this Sunday from 2–3:30 p.m. Those interested in learning more about the church, its history, and theology are invited to attend. Individuals and families who choose to become members will be recognized at New Member Commissioning on September 24.
- Longtime church member Ed James is receiving the Visionary Award from Presbyterian Homes’ charitable arm, the Geneva Foundation. As a child, Ed used his bike to deliver his mother’s homemade bread to Pres Homes residents in Evanston; Ed went on in adulthood to continue his service to the organization as a board member for over 40 years, shaping its direction and contribution his expertise as a real estate developer to the buildings that comprise the Pres Homes communities. Ed will be recognized this Monday, September 18 at the Geneva Foundation Golf Classic.
- The stained glass WWI Memorial Windows in the Transept, which have been undergoing a painstaking restoration, will be re-installed in time for worship this weekend. Associated Crafts & Willet Hauser have completed the project and are currently re-positioning the windows. Please take a moment to come observe the beautiful craftsmanship while paying respect to our fallen.
