Daily Prayer 365

Day 39
Sunday, October 9, 2022

Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. —Deuteronomy 11:18–20

Poetry is prayer both for those who are sure prayer is perfectly fine for other people and for those for whom prayer is every breath. —Tim Brown, January 17, 2019, Christian Century “Mary Oliver Broke My Heart”

Give us prayer, O God, words to carry with us when the silence and breath of spirit is not enough. And give us every breath a prayer. Amen. —The Reverend Dr. Katie Snipes Lancaster
