Though the mountains be shaken
and the hills be removed,
yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken
nor my covenant of peace be removed,”
says the Lord, who has compassion on you.
The gospel of Jesus is not a rational concept to be explained in a theory of salvation, but a story about God’s presence in Jesus’ solidarity with the oppressed, which led to his death on the cross. What is redemptive is the faith that God snatches victory out of defeat, life out of death, and hope out of despair. —James H. Cone, The Cross and the Lynching Tree
May your unfailing love usher us into a life redeemed, where there is life out of death, and hope out of despair. Grant your compassion and strength O Lord. —The Reverend Dr. Katie Snipes Lancaster
