Scripture
On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” —John 7:37–38
Wisdom
Prayer and love are really learned in the hour when prayer becomes impossible and your heart turns to stone. If you have never had any distractions, you don’t know how to pray. For the secret of prayer is a hunger for God and for the vision of God, a hunger that lies far deeper than the level of language and affection. —Thomas Merton, New Seeds of Contemplation
Prayer
On this day with its impossibilities, distractions, and stresses let me turn to you, let me hunger for you, let me in wordless affection dwell in your presence. Amen. —The Reverend Dr. Katie Snipes Lancaster
