Daily Prayer 365

Day 235
Sunday, April 23, 2023

All this is from God, who reconciled us to the divine through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to God-self in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And God has committed to us the message of reconciliation.  —2 Corinthians 5:18–19

Jesus comes to us as One unknown, without a name, as of old, by the lakeside, he came to those who knew him not. He speaks to us the same word: “Follow thou me!” and sets us to the tasks which he has to fulfil for our time. He commands. And to those who obey him, whether they be wise or simple, he will reveal himself in the toils, the conflicts, the sufferings which they shall pass through his fellowship, and as an ineffable mystery, they shall learn in their own experience who he is.  —Albert Schweitzer, The Quest for the Historical Jesus

Ineffable mystery, One unknown: Speak to me. Call me. Usher me into your wisdom. Amen. —The Reverend Dr. Katie Snipes Lancaster
