Scripture
‘The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
    because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.’  —Luke 4:18–19

Wisdom
In preaching the whole life of Jesus, we are invited to incarnate and become active participants in the ways of Jesus in our world today, including the ways that neighborly love, inclusive table fellowship, divestment of money and care for the poor interrupt patterns of oppression and sin in our world.  —Drew J. Strait, Sojourners Magazine, May 9, 2022, Our Moral Pandemic: Christian Nationalism and Political

Prayer
Give us neighborly love, inclusive table fellowship, and care for the poor that might disrupt and unsettle the tidy oppressions that litter our world. Amen. —The Reverend Dr. Katie Snipes Lancaster
