Confirmation is a chrysalis, a cocoon, a season of change, transition, and transformation. This year in particular I have heard person after person articulate in their faith statements just how much their faith has changed, deepened, and become more personal and important to them. There is a simplicity to the confirmation ceremony itself, but don’t be fooled: each confirmand you see on the steps of the chancel has a deep, complex, interpersonal faith and when asked, they will share with emotion and grace how they’ve seen God at work in their lives, their family’s lives, in the beauty of the earth, and the hardest parts of being human.
As each confirmand says “yes” to God, the congregation’s job is to receive them as adult members at Kenilworth Union, and to pledge support of them as they continue to grow in faith. Come say “yes” to this year’s confirmands and support them with your presence in the Sanctuary.
Join us Sunday, May 14 at 10 a.m. in the Sanctuary or Livestream.
