Children and Family Ministry Advent

The Reverend Christine V. Hides

Welcome to the season of Advent, a time of expectation and preparation for the wonder of Christmas—God’s love known in Jesus. The three-minute video above offers a few ways that your family can use your Advent Kits and the devotional booklets we provided (please contact Greta Connor for a copy). We hope that these materials create room for sacred family moments in an often busy season.

Thank you to all who joined us for our Advent Family Chapel and craft on Sunday which offered opportunities for families to connect around the themes of hope, peace, love, and joy.

We will have Sunday school on December 5 and 12, then break until January 9. Third graders should plan to complete Psalm 23 before winter break. Please contact me or a teacher to find a time to recite.

An Advent prayer for parents:
Holy God, in the chaos and the bustle of December bring your peace to our hearts and homes and to this world. Draw us close. Where there is loss and hurt, bring healing and Advent hope. Draw near to us, God, draw near. Slow our pace this Advent that we might find true joy in your love born anew on Christmas Day. Amen.
