After the Outreach Benefit Party…Openhouse at Breakthrough
By Diane Rand
A few weeks ago, our church hosted Wilonda Cannon, Director of Development for Breakthrough, a non-profit we support in East Garfield Park. Breakthrough was one of three agencies featured at this years’ successful Outreach Benefit last Friday. The organization runs three homeless shelters, a food pantry, and a brand new community center housing a health center, a preschool, sports facilities, and classrooms for afterschool programming.
For those of you who are interested in learning more about Breakthrough, they are hosting an Openhouse on Saturday, May 19 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the Men’s Center, 402 N. St. Louis Ave., Chicago, IL 60624. If you would like to go, please let either Dave Landsittel or me, Diane Rand know. If there is enough interest, we will arrange for a van or bus to take us all together. Please RSVP by Wenesday, May 9 so that we might let them know how many from Kenilworth Union Church are coming. A breakfast is planned for 9 a.m. followed by a tour.
Dave and I welcome your interest. We have both been so impressed by the organization’s focused mission on the 40 blocks of East Garfield Park and by the commitment of the folks who run the organization. We’d love to have you share our enthusiasm for Breakthrough and hope you can join us at the event.
