…and then there was joy, a fall devotional.

Scripture
When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars that you have established;
what are human beings that you are mindful of them,
mortals that you care for them?
Psalm 8:3–4

A Look at Joy [The Joy of Generosity]
When we give generously and sacrificially, it’s not because God needs anything, but because we want to show our love for God. Giving is an expression of obedience, yes, but also of gratitude, trust, and increasing joy. God seeks out and recognizes those who worship God…The God who sees our hearts (1 Samuel 6:7) and knows when we are offering our best, recognizes true worshippers. God even seeks them out (John 4:24). When we give him our treasure, we put our hearts with him. This act, itself, is worship. It is pleasing to God, and it brings glory to him, inspiring others to worship.

(From “Giving is Worship” article by Jill Foley Turner, Managing Editor, National Christian Foundation).

Prayer
O Perfect Giver,
O God of all,
inexplicably, our gifts to you bring you glory.
May our generosity always be worshipful.
Amen.
