Sunday, December 1 was the first day of Advent, the four weeks that help to prepare us for the mystery of the king who is unlike any other king, a king born in a manger. A king who was coming and is still coming. During this season when the days draw shorter still, we commit ourselves once more to the wondrous journey, guided by the starry light that leads to Emmanuel, God with Us.
During worship, eighty children and parents began the journey with worship and song, snuggled next to family in Schmidt Chapel. The Family Advent Chapel and nativity set craft were the first step on our Advent journey, one that invited us to slow down, spend time on what is important, with the people we love. We offer this handout with three interactive ways to journey through Advent using a child-friendly nativity set.
Thank you to all who joined us yesterday, for the teachers on hand to help, and the families that helped to lead chapel worship. We are grateful!
