Matt, Luke, & Chuck: The Guys Who Invented Christmas

Mondays, November 11 & 18, 7 p.m. in the Culbertson Room.  Three authors are entirely responsible for the way we tell and celebrate the Christmas story. In the New Testament, only Matthew and Luke even bother to mention Jesus’ birth and childhood, and they tell two different stories.  In our own day, Charles Dickens, almost completely by himself, revived the importance of Christmas after the holiday all but disappeared from Christian and secular consciousness following the Puritan Revolution in England. Please join The Reverend Dr. William A. Evertsberg’s Adult Ed presentation served with flavors of the holiday. Nourishing convivialities and seasonal libations like figgy pudding and mulled wine will accompany this feast for the mind.
