June 28 Blessed Be God… Betty Jacobson ( fresh/virtua, edited by Miya) Virtual Chancel Choir

The song Blessed Be God was written by Betty Jacobson for her daughter’s high school graduation in 1961 and was later selected as the state anthem for the combined high school choir of Illinois. Jacobson taught at Evanston High School, leading choral classes, teaching piano lessons and producing musicals, but most importantly to us at Kenilworth Union, she served as our organist for 43 years retiring in 1990. She played piano daily even up until the week she died at the age of 93 in 2008.

June 28 Blessed Be God… Betty Jacobson ( fresh/virtua, edited by Miya) Virtual Chancel Choir

God is my rock, God is my fortress, a very present help in every time of need.
God is my rock, God is my fortress, how precious are his thoughts tome me;
If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand.

Search me, O God, and know my heart.
Try me, O God, and know my thoughts.
O search me, O God, and know my heart;
Lead me in the way everlasting.

Blessed be God from everlasting to everlasting;
Blessed by God from everlasting to everlasting; Amen and amen.

Blessing
O God my rock, my fortress, search me and know my heart, be with me from everlasting to everlasting. Amen.
