From Amy Castino

First and foremost, we hope you and your family are doing well and enjoying the remaining weeks of summer. We miss you tremendously and look forward to seeing you so soon!

Please carefully read the information below to learn the details regarding our upcoming school year that are in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. As a reminder, AJN’s updated cancellation and refund policy goes into effect on Monday and reads as such: Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, AJN will honor an enrollment refund if you are uncomfortable sending your child to school. This decision will have to be made by August 17, 2020 to receive a full refund. After this date, the COVID-19 refund policy will be void.

Undoubtedly this school year will be different than any we have experienced before. There are many changes, but there is much that will remain the same: Our love for your children, the growth they will experience, the friendships they will build upon, and the feeling of God’s safe love in an uncertain time.

As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Strict and thorough cleaning procedures will take place daily before and after each class. This includes but is not limited to: Sanitizing all toys & manipulatives, wiping down all hard surfaces including door handles, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, disinfecting high traffic areas, and general cleaning of common areas.

Children will wash their hands immediately after entering the classroom and then again after playing outside and before snack. Hand sanitizer will be available for use any time in the classroom.

Students will still receive a snack in their classroom provided by a teacher wearing gloves and their mandated face shields and smocks. Students will wash their hands prior to snack and will be served an individual portion and cup on a sterilized table.

Click here to read Outdoor Space

To optimize outdoor space, classes will individually use the Robinson Garden (which will be split in half so 2 classes can utilize it without mixing), the Memorial Garden, the backyard area of the Manse, and the area by the Jesus Statue. By utilizing these spaces, we can provide each class more outdoor time. By doing this, students will be able to have story time, snack, playtime and other various daily activities outside at the teacher’s discretion. When outside each class will have their own set of outdoor toys to use specific to them.

Children will have their own individual box filled with markers, crayons, pencils, scissors, etc. available for them to use as needed. Play-doh will also be handled in this manner, with each child having their own play-doh box.

If in-person learning at AJN Preschool cannot begin in September and is therefore delayed, then families will be reimbursed a prorated tuition for the months missed. We will do this until Monday, November 9, then eLearning will begin for 3s and Junior Kindergarten. For 2s if we are not in-person learning by November 9, then eLearning options will become available for those interested.

Once the school year begins, regular tuition will apply for the remainder of the school year for 3s and JK. If shelter-in-place is mandated by our governing bodies after the school year begins, then AJN Preschool will convert to eLearning until we are able to return to in-person learning. Teachers have been at work all summer creating a curriculum that involves activity bags that will be sent home, class lessons, zooms, story time, zoom field trips and more.

If a classroom shuts down due to a positive COVID-19 diagnosis (and eLearning is instated), no reimbursements will be given.

We will be sending home a recorded Director’s Coffee video in lieu of hosting an in-person gathering this year. This video will provide information on the school year.

  • You can expect to receive this video in your email inboxes the week of August 31.
  • Please mark your calendars for a live Director’s Q & A via online on Friday, September 11 at 10 a.m.

Information will be sent to your home the last week of August. It will outline the 2020-2021 school calendar, carpool information, class lists, emergency contact forms, and other important information. There will be documents that need to be filled out, signed and brought back during the first week of school. These are mandated by DCFS.
