Advent and Christmas Music Ministry Favorites

Written by: Julia Smolucha

Lisa Bond, Minister of Music

Praise God from whom all blessings flow! This year’s Advent and Christmas worship will be in person, with fully vaccinated singers. Thank you God that we do not have to sing into cameras anymore. Not only was that an arduous technical process to edit virtual choir videos, it also left us without the joy of being together to share God’s love. And while we are not quite ready for a full Lessons and Carols service with young children, we will be offering some Kenilworth Union Church Music Ministry favorites to help fill that place in our hearts.

  • Sunday, December 5, 10 a.m. Worship Service—Junior Bell Choir, Cherub/Rejoice Singers and Ringers and the Percussion Ensemble will be playing delightful carols of the season. Be sure to arrive early for the preludes and stay for the postlude.
  • Sunday, December 12, 10 a.m. Worship Service—Chancel Choir and chamber string orchestra will accompany our congregation on glorious hymns and one of John Rutter’s most beautiful anthems, What Sweeter Music
  • Sunday, December 19, 10 a.m. Worship Service—KUC Youth Choir, Chancel Choir, and Adult Bell Choir will be boldly singing and ringing their faith with all their might. The Congregation and Choir Alumni will be joining us in singing our traditional Night of Silence, Silent Night. (Bring your tissues!) The December 19 worship service will conclude with Carol of the Bells by the Adult Bell Choir.

Thanks be to God for the gift of music.
