On Sunday, December 6, Kenilworth Union Church members celebrated Advent from their cars! Designed as a Christmas pageant alternative, a drive-thru nativity including live actors and animals was created by our Children and Family ministry. Sheep, goats, a camel named “Farley,” and a donkey named “Daisy” were highlights of the experience!
During this sold-out event, passengers of 75 vehicles enjoyed viewing three scenes: The Annunciation, The Shepherds, and The Nativity, while listening to the story on a podcast.
A special thanks to Gina Gooden for organizing the many volunteers who made this event successful: the children and youth who helped the story come to life; the Gooden, Cast, and Smith families who served as the holy family; and Rob Faurot for keeping traffic flowing smoothly. A big thank you to the staff operations team, Christine Hides and Greta Connor, for masterminding the logistics. To all of the volunteers and congregational participants, thank you for making our first Journey to Bethlehem Live Nativity a special day and one to remember!
May the Advent season bring love and joy to you and your families.
